Germany 2001

It is as if freedom means the luxury of painting anything flat.

Some of the touched-up portions of the wall. Since 1990, this 1 mile section of the Berlin Wall, running along Muhlenstrasse, between Hauptbahnhof and Oberbaumbrucke, has been known as the East Side Gallery. A huge collection of graffiti is on display here, comprising the work of 118 different artists from 21 different countries. This expansive display was organized by the Scottish artist Chris MacLean.
