| On our first
adventure in South Western Australia, Matt Tennant & Mike Madsen went
along for the ride. We were all inexperienced cycle tourists. We took the
train from Perth to Bunbury to start our trip down the Bibulman
Track--much like the Appalachian Trail. We all followed Erik Hagglund
around the Southern lands. He was the only experienced camper around. Matt
& Mike caught a train back 1/2 through the trip and Erik & I kept
going. We got 300 kilometers away from Bunbury and tried to take a bus
back to the train station where we had our return trip to Perth scheduled.
What we didn't consider is that it was Fall Break for all Australian
Schools and there were no more tickets, much less ones involving bicycles.
So we got a map and hit the highway and covered 5-days worth of ground in
1 1/2. It was fast & furious, but we met some FANTASTIC supporters
along the way. One woman let us shower & do our wash at her
house. |
